Sunday Storms & New Tropical Activity

Thursday and Friday were active weather days around the region and it looks like Sunday could see another round of stormy conditions.

An approaching cold front will likely trigger some thunderstorm activity Sunday in the Mid Atlantic region and the Storm Prediction Center has indicated that northeast Maryland is at a slight risk for severe storm development.

Down the road, tropical weather may be an issue.

Tropical Storm Irene has developed in the Atlantic.

Computer models have been consistent in taking this storm complex close to south Florida by the end of the week and that is exactly what the Hurricane Center is calling for in their Saturday evening forecast.

Beyond Thursday, long range computer models move the storm remnant into the vicinity of Georgia with remnant low pressure and rains approaching the Chesapeake Bay area by the end of next weekend or early next week.

It needs to be said that a lot can happen to alter these longer term outlooks so keep checking back for updates that could change the timeline, strength or trajectory of the storm.
