Will Emily Regenerate?

With the 5pm update from The Natonal Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Emily was declared done…for now.  The maximum sustained winds had diminished to 35 mph with the diffuse center located about 100 miles south/southwest of the eastern tip of Cuba.  The mountains of Haiti and the Dominican Republic apparently tore the storm apart.  The remnants, however, could still produce very heavy rain, perhaps 6-12″ with isolated 20″ totals, as it tracks toward Cuba and the Bahamas.  Various computer models, plotted on the image posted here, take the storm back over warm ocean waters, which could help the storm regain some if its strength over the next couple days, especially if it ends up west of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.  Stay tuned!
