Almost As Hot As Last Year

With the second heatwave of the season underway, Spring 2011 is beginning to feel a lot like last year.  In 2010 the 90° days started coming early with 2 in April and 3 in May.  Then, the heat intensified in June with 16 days of temperatures in the 90s, including two days that hit 100°, helping to make June 2010 the second warmest June on record in Baltimore (average temp. of 78.9° compared to 79.8° in 1943).  In fact, 2010 finished with a record 59 days of temperatures at or above 90°.  This year the temperature did not hit 90° in April but since then we’ve had six 90° days, just one less the airport recorded through the first eight days of June last year…and Summer doesn’t officially begin until  1:16 p.m. EDT on June 21st!
