Latest Storm Blankets The Nation With Snow

The storm that dropped 1-4″ of snow around the Baltimore area last night has intensified into a blizzard off the New England coast.  At Boston’s Logan airport the 8:00am observation included:  Heavy Snow with 1/4 mile visibility and sustained winds of 35 mph with gusts to 43  mph.  By this evening, the blizzard should be just northeast of Boston and then slowly pull away from the region early Thursday. As a result of the storm, which moved across the deep south earlier this week, every state in nation, except Florida,  has at least some snow on the ground (snow on top of Mauna Kea, Hawaii).  In fact, the National Weather Service reports 69.4% of the contiguous United States is now covered with some snow.

Around Maryland and the mid Atlantic we can expect some gusty winds and cold temperatures as on the back side of that departing storm.  Other than the possibility of a few flurries, the next chance for substantial snow around here will come next Tuesday.
