90° 55 Times

With a Tuesday afternoon high of 91° at BWI-Marshall (the Baltimore area’s official weather station), a new record was established for the most days with temperatures at or above 90°.  The previous record was 54 days set during the summer of 1988.  The climatological normal for this area is 29 days.  This year the heat actually started in the Spring, with five days in the 90s before June 1st.  Along with a record number of days in the nineties, 2010 will also be remembered for the 7 days with temperatures at or above 100°, which ties the record set in 1988 and in 1930.
