Stormy Set-Up

After a couple of “January Thaw” days with highs in the 50s, temperatures are expected to settle back to more normal readings. Prior to Thursday, the last  time temperatures reached into the 50s in Baltimore was on December 27. Along with a return to colder temperatures, a storm will be moving into the Mid Atlantic region this weekend and next week looks a little unsettled as well.

The satellite image above focuses on the Pacific Ocean and provides a good view of storm systems that will be affecting the Mid Atlantic region over the next week to week-and-a-half.

The storm hilighted on the right is developing in the western Gulf of Mexico and is expected to be a rainmaker for Maryland on Sunday. The storm hilighted on the left is in the north Pacific and elements of it will be moving eastward over the coming week, resulting in a chance for either rain or snow late in the week.

Just 65 days till spring!
