Friday “Bill” Update

vis-l

Bill has lost a little strength but remains a category three storm with 115 mph winds. The forecast track remains essentially unchanged with the storm remaining over the open waters of the Atlantic until it nears the Canadian Maritime Provinces.

As Bill sweeps past the U.S. coast over the weekend it will churn up the ocean waters and high surf and dangerous rip currents are likely along the coastline.

The satellite image above shows the extremely wide circulation pattern that is feeding into the storm. Tropical storm force winds extend nearly 300 miles from the center of Bill but the wider environment that envelops the storm is evident by the graceful sweep of the cloud pattern that extends more than a thousand miles from the storm.
