Almost Over

The big nor’easter is pulling away from  the area. Two major bands of snow were associated with the storm. The second band moved north around 12 noon. The sun was starting to break through but yet another area of snow developed and was producing flurries and snow showers around 2:00pm.

latest1

The storm has become so tightly wrapped up that the head of the comma cloud has almost completely closed off an area that appears to be “the eye of the storm”.

As nor’easters go, this was not a blockbuster but it provided the first significant snow in the region this season. Preliminary indications show that today’s snowfall established a new record for the date at BWI-Marshall Airport with a 4 inch total. 3.7 inches was the old record.

The listing below is a copy of snow reports submitted to the National Weather Service.
