Carolina Snow

Low pressure that developed over North Georgia Monday tracked through the Carolinas Tuesday and delivered several inches of snow to the piedmont. Reports out of North Carolina indicate a 2-7″ snowfall from I-95 west through Raleigh into Durham. The 3.5″ of snow measured at Raleigh-Durham International Airport was a record for the day, beating the old record of 2.4″ set back in 2000. 7″ of snow was reported in parts of Wake, Johnston and Chatham counties. Luckily, this system stayed far enough south and east to leave Washington, D.C. in a mix of clouds and sun for President Obama’s inauguration.
