Hurricane Season Continues

The hurricane season continues.

NOAA Satellite Image…Enhanced by the National Hurricane Center

The satellite image above show three areas of interest:

  • The “Lx” area in the central Atlantic is Tropical Depression Nana. Nana was briefly identified as a tropical storm on Sunday but has since weakened. The storm never has been well organized. The analysis that led in part to the naming of the storm came from a highly specialized satellite. Before this technology existed, Nana might never have been classified a tropical storm.
  • The “Lx” area in the eastern Caribbean is Tropical Depression 15. This storm shows potential to develop into a hurricane. The next name on the list is “Omar”. Its’ projected track takes the storm northeast over Puerto Rico and into the north Atlantic.
  • The orange circled area labeled “1” has the potential to become a tropical depression. A hurricane hunter aircraft is expected to investigate the storm.
