At 8:00 am EDT Tuesday Ike was 65 miles south of Havana. Hurricane force winds extended out only 35 miles from the center of the storm. Ike is moving in a west-northwesterly direction and will eventually move into the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to strengthen to a category 3 storm. This forecast track reduces the threat to Key West, Florida but puts Ike on a path to the south Texas coast by early Saturday.
