Tuesday Tropics On A Roll

Four tropical weather systems are active today ( 9:00 AM ) in the Atlantic Basin.

From west to east here is a quick sketch of the storms shown above.

Gustav is winding down over the lower Mississippi Valley as a tropical depression.

Hanna has weakened to tropical storm strength and is poised to move across the Bahamas and eventually up the eastern seaboard. Hanna is expected to regain hurricane strength.

Ike is a tropical storm and is headed for the Atlantic waters just north of the Caribbean islands. Ike is expected to reach hurricane strength.

Tropical Depression #9 is expected to eventually reach hurricane strength (Josephine) and, over the next few days, follow a similar path cut by Hanna and Ike.

Late morning tropical update. Tropical Depression #9 has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Josephine. A different satellite view of the four tropical systems in the Atlantic Basin.
