Sub 40, maybe…

In a “normal” winter around here one of the benchmarks we keep track of is the number of days the temperature fails to get above freezing. But, in the odd winter of ’06-’07 it will be noteworthy if the temperature stays below 40f! So far this cold season we have had exactly “0” days that have stayed below freezing and just one day below 40f. The coldest afternoon so far this winter was back on December 8th when the high was just 34f. With low pressure deepening and moving off the mid Atlantic coast, the chilliest air in a month will be pulled into Maryland on Wednesday and perhaps, for just the second time this winter, the thermometer at BWI-Marshall will not top 40f. Weird stuff.
